Widiatmika High School and Vocational School Students Explore Top Universities in Java, Gaining Inspiration and Scholarship Opportunities

JIMBARAN – A total of 59 students from Widiatmika High School and Vocational School participated in an Educational Study Program at several prestigious universities in Java. During this nearly week-long visit, they explored Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), University of Indonesia (UI), Indonesia University of Education (UPI), and Sanata Dharma University (USD).

This program aims to broaden academic horizons, inspire students in planning their educational future, and provide in-depth information on scholarship opportunities and outstanding study programs. Putu Mita Wulandari, Vice Principal of Public Relations at Widiatmika High School, emphasized the significant benefits this program offers to students.

“We want our students not only to understand the education system and teaching methods at top universities but also to familiarize themselves with the academic facilities available. Additionally, they gain valuable insights into admission pathways, scholarship opportunities, and outstanding study programs that can serve as references when selecting a university. We hope this experience will be both an inspiration and a motivation for them to pursue higher education,” said Mita.

Furthermore, Mita explained that the Educational Study Program was the result of collaboration between the school and parents. In designing the agenda and selecting university destinations, Widiatmika High School and Vocational School actively engaged parents through surveys and discussions. As a result, USD, UMN, UI, and UPI, located in Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Bandung, were chosen as the main destinations. The program took place from February 17 to 21, 2024.

Mita hopes this visit will help students gain confidence in choosing study programs and universities that align with their interests and talents. With a concrete picture of university life, it is expected that their motivation to study will increase, enabling them to seize the opportunity to be admitted to their dream university.

“This program also fosters independence and adaptability. Traveling to different regions teaches students to be more self-reliant, responsible, and quick to adapt to new environments. Additionally, meeting university students and professors from top institutions boosts their confidence in facing future academic challenges,” she added.

Echoing Mita’s sentiments, Putu Prima Cahyadi, a teacher at Widiatmika Vocational School, believes that visiting top universities in Java provides invaluable experiences for students. They get to experience the academic atmosphere, observe university life firsthand, and understand the academic dynamics of higher education. This is expected to help them create a more well-prepared educational plan after graduating from high school or vocational school.

“The Educational Study Program provides numerous benefits for students. They gain firsthand experiences that enrich their academic understanding, enhance critical thinking skills, broaden perspectives, and encourage more active and interactive learning. Furthermore, this visit also helps them develop social skills and teamwork—essential qualities for both university life and future careers,” Cahyadi explained.

Through this program, Widiatmika High School and Vocational School remain committed to providing students with a broader and deeper learning experience while opening opportunities for them to achieve a brighter educational future.
