TONJA – A remarkable achievement has been made by a young student from Widiatmika Kindergarten. Ni Kadek Devina Pradnyaningtias, a student of TK A2 Widiatmika, won two medals at the Slalom Championship 2025, a roller skating competition for young skaters from across Bali, held at Living World Bali on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
At just 4 years and 10 months old, Devina showcased exceptional skills among 89 young skaters from various schools in Bali. She won second place in the Fish Slalom Beginner category and third place in the Skate Cross Beginner category. This achievement was even more impressive given the tough competition she faced from more experienced participants.
“The biggest challenge during the competition was keeping Devina focused. At her young age, she can easily lose concentration, so we constantly reminded her to stay focused while competing,” explained Adriani Honi Ano, a Widiatmika Kindergarten teacher who accompanied Devina.
Devina’s success was met with pride by her family and the school. For Devina, this was the result of her dedication and enthusiasm in training. For Widiatmika Kindergarten, it was a clear reflection of the school's commitment to character education.
Adriani revealed that Devina only started roller skating in May 2024. Initially, her grandmother gave her a pair of roller skates as a gift, noticing her boundless energy. Realizing her potential, the school encouraged Devina to join a professional roller skating club to further develop her skills.
“Apart from guiding her to join a club, we consistently provided moral support, from daily motivation to direct accompaniment during the competition. We instill character values such as courage, self-confidence, and responsibility every day at school,” Adriani added.
Devina trains regularly under the supervision of professional coaches who help enhance her technical skills. Her success is the result of a combination of Devina's spirit, family support, and Widiatmika Kindergarten's character-based educational approach.
“Devina’s achievement demonstrates that with the right support from an early age, children can grow into confident individuals who are ready to compete with sportsmanship,” Adriani concluded.
