Educating an Environmentally Conscious Generation, Widiatmika Kindergarten Consistently Holds Clean Friday Activities

JIMBARAN – Widiatmika Kindergarten is committed to instilling cleanliness, discipline, and environmental awareness through its regular Clean Friday activities. This initiative serves as a positive habit-building effort to shape children's character from an early age, encouraging them to grow into individuals who care about cleanliness and the environment.

“Clean Friday aims to cultivate a habit of cleanliness, discipline, and environmental awareness. The children learn the importance of maintaining cleanliness, both at school and in their surroundings. Additionally, they develop teamwork, cooperation, and responsibility in taking care of shared facilities. A clean and healthy environment creates a more comfortable learning atmosphere and supports children's optimal development,” said Ni Made Budiadnyani, Principal of Widiatmika Early Childhood Education.

This activity is routinely conducted on the first and third Fridays of every month, involving all TK A and TK B students. They are encouraged to work together to clean the school environment, from pulling out weeds in the garden and playground to picking up litter around the school. In addition, children are also taught how to dispose of waste properly, sweep the play areas, and maintain the cleanliness of classrooms and other school facilities.

Budiadnyani added that Clean Friday is more than just a routine—it is a small step with a big impact on both children and the surrounding community. Through this initiative, the school hopes that students will develop an awareness of cleanliness and environmental care from an early age. The positive habits they learn at school are expected to carry over into their homes and become part of their daily lives.

“We aim to instill values such as environmental awareness, teamwork, responsibility, and cooperation through these activities. By involving children in maintaining cleanliness, we believe they will grow into individuals who love and care for the environment, not just for themselves but also for those around them,” she explained.

The benefits of this initiative are already becoming evident. According to Budiadnyani, parents have shared that their children are now more aware of cleanliness, both at home and in their surroundings. They have developed the habit of disposing of waste properly and are more attentive to maintaining a clean environment.

The local community around Widiatmika Kindergarten has also shown support for this initiative. Residents have expressed pride and inspiration in seeing young children being taught to care for their environment from an early age.

“We hope this activity inspires the wider community to work together in creating a cleaner, healthier, and more comfortable environment for everyone. Big changes always start with small, consistent actions carried out together,” Budiadnyani concluded.
