Widiatmika Kindergarten Market Day: A Fun Way to Learn Entrepreneurship

JIMBARAN – Excitement filled the air at Widiatmika Kindergarten as the young learners experienced Market Day on Thursday and Friday, May 8–9, 2025. Designed to introduce basic entrepreneurship concepts to young children, the event also aimed to foster responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills.

With the theme "Small Market, Big Experience," Market Day featured two main booths. The Nusantara Food Booth offered a variety of traditional Indonesian dishes, while the Creativity and Plants Booth displayed handcrafted items made from recycled materials and simple gardening products managed by the students themselves. Kindergarten A and Kindergarten B students took on roles as sellers and cashiers, while parents became the customers.

"The children are not only learning how to buy and sell, but also understanding the values of honesty, responsibility, and teamwork. They practice serving customers, counting money, and communicating confidently," explained Ni Made Budiadnyani, Principal of Widiatmika Kindergarten.

Budiadnyani emphasized that Market Day is not just a role-playing activity, but an integral part of experiential learning at Widiatmika Kindergarten. It allows children to experience firsthand what it is like to be a vendor, from preparing products to serving customers.

Enthusiasm was evident. The young learners confidently offered their products, from handmade crafts to a variety of snacks. They learned to work in teams, share responsibilities, and support each other. Meanwhile, parents actively participated as customers, providing encouragement and positive feedback.

"The main values we want to instill through this activity are honesty in transactions, independence, responsibility, and empathy. The children are taught to serve with kindness and understand that every customer is a guest who should be respected," Budiadnyani added.

Widiatmika Kindergarten's Market Day was more than just a fun event; it was an opportunity for the children to develop essential life skills. They learned about money concepts, product management, and simple marketing strategies. These experiences are expected to serve as valuable lessons for their future.

"Market Day is an example of how learning can be both enjoyable and meaningful. We want our children to grow into independent, creative individuals with strong social skills," Budiadnyani concluded.
